 Enviably huge hair.
Big hair is a key weapon in a woman's arsenal of seduction. Lush, bouncy locks conjure up images of blown-out blondes such as Brigitte Bardot and Farrah Fawcett, and voluminous brunettes such as Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman." Big hair is sexy. Think you can make it work for you? Even the fine-haired girls can go big with a few simple styling tips. Does this Spark an idea?

For a big-hair look that's tousled and slightly imperfect (read: bedhead), you don't need to start with freshly shampooed locks. Work with your natural hair, whatever state it's in, and lift 2- to 4-inch pieces with a comb. Spray each piece with dry shampoo and let it dry. Once you've done your whole head, flip your head over and brush out. Use your fingers to arrange your hairdo. Dry shampoo can add volume to flat or fine hair.
You can get instant, long-lasting volume with that staple of the 1980s: hairspray. Just flip your head over and direct the hair spray at your roots. Mist evenly, and don't over-spray, unless you want crunchy hair. Keep your head upside down for about a minute while the spray dries. Toss your head back and tousle your hair with your fingers (don't use a brush or comb; it'll break up the holding power of the spray).

Greasy roots are the antithesis of volume. However, well-conditioned hair will hold volume better without looking straw-like and frizzy. This means that you should deep condition a day or two before you're planning to wear your hair big. You'll get the moisturizing effects, but you won't risk letting a little residual oil spoil your big moment.
When applying volumizing products, pay extra attention to your roots. Volume at the crown is how big hair gets noticed, and without a little help, most people's roots fall flat quickly. Work a volumizing mousse into the roots and spread the excess throughout the rest of your hair. You can even get a product designed specifically for root volume (try Jonathan Create Root Volume Brushable Lifting Spray™, available on sephora.com).

Use your curling iron or other heated curl tools to get classic, full body. After shampooing and working a volumizing mousse through your hair, blow your hair dry. With your curling iron, curl 2-inch sections of hair in random directions, starting at the ends and curling halfway up. Once you've curled a section, pin the curl to your head with a bobby pin so that it has a chance to cool. Undo all the bobby pins when you're finished, shake out the curls with your fingers, and spritz with a holding hairspray.
Get the same amount of volume with less effort by using hot rollers. On dry hair, wrap 2-inch sections around each roller. When rollers have completely cooled (about 10 minutes), gently remove them and let your hair cool. If you want softer waves, break up the curls with a paddle brush or a shine-inducing boar's bristle brush. Set the style with a light mist of hair spray.
